Basketball Game Preview: Cherryvale Chargers vs. Caney Valley Bullpups

The Cherryvale Chargers will take on the Caney Valley Bullpups on Tuesday. Cherryvale is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.

Last Friday, Cherryvale was fully in charge, breezing past Fredonia 60-28. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Caney Valley came up short against Humboldt on Friday and fell 56-47.

Cherryvale pushed their record up to 11-2-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points over those games. As for Caney Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-3 record this season.

Cherryvale was able to grind out a solid win over Caney Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 54-41. Will Cherryvale repeat their success, or does Caney Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
