Baseball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Wednesday. Central fell just short of Festus by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Central of the 9-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Chapman Ogles was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jathan Spain, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Central has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-14 record this season. As for Festus, their win bumped their record up to 18-14-1.

As of now, neither Central nor Festus have any future games scheduled.
