Anniston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Central of Coosa County Cougars. One positive for the Bulldogs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Dylan Goodson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zamari Hawkins, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Anniston's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Central of Coosa County, their win ended a 14-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anniston will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Faith Christian at 4:30 p.m. on March 13th. As for Central of Coosa County, they will take on Isabella at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Isabella's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Central of Coosa County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
