Baseball Recap: Eldorado Eagles vs. Christoval Cougars
Eldorado extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-8 in the process. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Christoval Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-6 on April 1st.
Landon McSherry and Jaysen Santellano stepped up to the plate in a big way. McSherry went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Santellano went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was McSherry's first of the season. Eleazar Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Christoval, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games.
On Christoval's side, the team relied heavily on Blaze Webber, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The Cougars are 10-2 when Webber posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Colt Floyd, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
Eldorado does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Christoval, they will take on Miles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
