Recap: Mercer Christian Academy Cavaliers vs. Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders
The Mercer Christian Academy Cavaliers were the 60-45 winner over the Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Mercer Christian Academy fell to Greater Beckley Christian 56-52. Mercer Christian Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Mercer Christian Academy had strong showings from MJ Patton, who scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Isaac Sharp, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Patton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Carpenter, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Greater Beckley Christian can attribute much of their success to Hunter Laxton, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Averyk Woodson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Mercer Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Greater Beckley Christian, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Mercer Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against Summers County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Greater Beckley Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Montcalm at 8:00 p.m.
