There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
Can't Touch This
Bonny Eagle got a 38 - 20 win over Massabesic last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Zach Maturo. Maturo ran for 235 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Maturo as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Marshwood and Skowhegan, 1st and 10th in the power rankings, respectively. Everything went Marshwood's way against Skowhegan as it secured a 60 - 23 win. That 37-point margin marks the most Marshwood has won by all season.
Movin on Up
Mountain Valley will have a better view of things this week after its strong showing last week propelled it ten spots up the power rankings. That was the biggest rise of the week. It finished ahead of Spruce Mountain by a score of 22 - 15. Mountain Valley had two big standouts, as junior Jasper Turner earned two touchdowns and 39 yards rushing the ball, while junior Dylan Desroches rushed for 49 yards and threw for one touchdown.
Game of Inches
It doesn't get any closer than a one-point game, and that was the margin of last week's closest contest, which featured thrill-seekers Foxcroft and Bucksport. Foxcroft won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Bucksport 21 - 20. The win raised Foxcroft up three spots in the power rankings.
