Basketball Recap: Crystal River Takes a Loss

Crystal River suffered their biggest loss since January 23, 2024 on Friday. They had to suffer through a 72-40 loss at the hands of the Lecanto Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 478th, while the Panthers are ranked 105th).

Crystal River moved to 12-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Lecanto, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season.

Crystal River didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 82-53 victory against West Port on the 25th. Lecanto has also already played their next contest, a 70-51 win against Gulf on the 25th.
