Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is West Jessamine's Fourth in Last Five Outings

West Jessamine barely beat Garrard County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Colts' pitcher stepped up to hand the Golden Lions a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Michaela Tate, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Garrard County off the board. Tate has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addi Vahle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Emerson Collins also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

West Jessamine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .406 or higher in three consecutive matches.

West Jessamine is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Garrard County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Coming up, West Jessamine will host Taylor County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Colts' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Garrard County, they will challenge Casey County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.12 runs per game on average), something the Golden Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
