Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Solvay

Solvay had won four straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped their record up to 8-3 to make it five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Chittenango Bears a 3-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 on Thursday.

As for Chittenango, they now have a losing record of 5-6. The match marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

For Chittenango's part, Andrew Valente put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Valente has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Solvay will take on Mexico at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Chittenango, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Canastota at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
