Pueblo West had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Fruita Monument Wildcats  3-2 on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Cyclones sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
 Cam Mares spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two  runs (both of which were unearned)  on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in five consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side, Pueblo West let  Blake Mares and  Kaden Garcia run wild. Mares  went 1-for-3 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double, while  Garcia  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  double. Mares is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as he's  now  snagged  at least one in each of the last three games he's  played.
Pueblo West's win was  their ninth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 16-7. The  home  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Fruita Monument, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.
As of now, neither Pueblo West nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
