Basketball Recap: Warsaw Comes Up Short

After flying high against Green Ridge last Monday, Warsaw came back down to earth. The Warsaw Wildcats fell 49-38 to the Versailles Tigers on Tuesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Warsaw saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sara Miller posted 11 points along with eight steals and seven boards. Those eight steals gave Miller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiera Mostaffa, who earned nine points and seven rebounds.

Warsaw's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Versailles, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Warsaw Wildcats face off against the Climax Springs Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Versailles has already played their next contest (against Sherwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
