Baseball Recap: Archbishop Ryan Takes a Loss

Archbishop Ryan lost against Father Judge back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Raiders and Ragdolls fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 3-2.

Jake Marchesano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Dave Perez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

Archbishop Ryan's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Father Judge, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Archbishop Ryan is taking a road trip to face off against Neshaminy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders and Ragdolls 4.1, the Skins 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Father Judge, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Germantown Academy at 10:00 a.m.
