Football Recap: Roy Takes a Loss

Roy played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 37-12 to the Syracuse Titans. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2020.

Despite the loss, Roy still got an impressive performance from Collin Chapman, who threw for 163 yards and one touchdown on only 15 passes.

Leading Syracuse to victory were Ledger Wight and Ryker Van Komen. Wight threw for 181 yards and three TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes, while Van Komen gained 175 total yards and a touchdown. Those three passing touchdowns gave Wight a new career-high. Weston Russell was in the mix too, providing Syracuse with two scores.

Roy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Syracuse, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roy will venture away from home to face off against Weber at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Syracuse, they will head out to challenge Bountiful at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
