Baseball Recap: Stanwood Wins High-Profile Game Against Othello

Stanwood faced Othello in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Spartans blew past the Huskies 8-0. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Huskies, too.

The result came thanks to Tanner Requa's shutout, as he gave up just six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Clifton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Gehrman, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Stanwood's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Othello, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanwood will face off against Everett at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Othello, they will take on East Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Red Devils will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight.
