Football Game Preview: Overhills Jaguars vs. New Bern Bears + Official Tickets

The Overhills Jaguars are taking a road trip to challenge the New Bern Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Overhills has given up an average of 31 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Overhills is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Friday. They took a blow against Pine Forest, falling 35-0. Considering the last time the Jaguars couldn't score was back in September, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, New Bern didn't have too much trouble with South Central on Thursday as they won 21-3. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won seven in a row.

Overhills better keep an eye on Karvin Magwood. He was instrumental in New Bern's win, rushing for 127 yards and one score. That's the most rushing yards Magwood has posted since back in September. Rylan Copeland also helped out with an impressive 84 receiving yards.

New Bern was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. They are 3-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

One reason for the win was New Bern's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Amari Reddick, Devon Grant, and Kamden Sampson, who each picked up one sack apiece. New Bern got some further help from Reddick: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles.

Overhills' defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for New Bern, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
