High school softball national strikeout leaders

Alabama ace leads nation with 430 Ks in 239.1 innings.

According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, senior Emily Needham of Saint James (Montgomery, Ala.) leads high school softball nationally with 430 strikeouts. The South Alabama pledge compiled a 0.99 ERA in 239.1 innings this season for the Trojans, who wrapped up a 63-game season by reaching the Class 3A championship game.

Hannah DeMarcus of Pace (Fla.) is second on this list with 418 punch-outs. The sophomore had a 0.32 ERA with double-digit strikeouts in all but one game.

Grace Lemke of Altamont (Ill.) is third with 416 strikeouts. The senior is committed to College of Lake County and averaged 2.4 strikeouts per inning.
