Basketball Recap: West Linn Sets Scoring Season-High Against West Salem

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Linn). They were the clear victor by a 77-52 margin over the West Salem Titans on Saturday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Titans are ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Linn was led to victory by Kaylor Buse and Reese Jordan. Buse went 9 for 12 on her way to 26 points in addition to six boards and five assists, while Jordan posted 12 points along with eight assists and seven boards. With that strong performance, Buse is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Buse, who put up nine points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: West Linn was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

With the victory, West Linn broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-4. As for West Salem, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Linn will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Willamette at 6:45 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for West Salem, they will venture away from home to take on Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
