Softball Recap: Fort Dorchester Falls Short Against Ranked Berkeley

Fort Dorchester faced Berkeley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Patriots fell 7-4 to the Stags. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Stags recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Mila Lorenzano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fort Dorchester saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nadia Lorenzano, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Fort Dorchester's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Berkeley, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Coming up, Fort Dorchester will square off against Ashley Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Berkeley, they will take on Lucy Beckham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bengals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.75 runs per game on average), something the Stags will no doubt try to take advantage of.
