Football Preview: Clewiston Tigers vs. Glades Central Raiders
The Clewiston Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Glades Central Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Clewiston, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Glades Central's (thus far) undefeated season.
Clewiston's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Cardinal Newman on Friday. They had to suffer through a 48-0 loss at the hands of the Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Crusaders are ranked 21st).
Meanwhile, Glades Central got the win against Dwyer last Thursday by a conclusive 33-7. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 26 points or more this season.
Ar?Maud Stinfort was his usual excellent self, rushing for 64 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
Glades Central wouldn't let Dwyer keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Glades Central can thank Bryson Hightower and Javier Flores for forcing both of them. Another thorn in Dwyer's side was Daryl Goring, who made four total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Clewiston's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Glades Central, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
Clewiston beat Glades Central 21-14 in their previous matchup back in May of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clewiston since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
