Volleyball Game Preview: Maloney Spartans vs. Conard Red Wolves

Maloney hasn't had much luck against Conard recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Red Wolves at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Maloney comes in on 15 and Conard on 11.

Maloney is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Farmington, who was ranked fourth at the time (Maloney was ranked first). The Spartans blew past the River Hawks 3-0 on Friday.

While Maloney won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 26-24, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Conard made easy work of Simsbury on Friday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Conard was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-17, 25-17.

Maloney's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0. As for Conard, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.

Maloney suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Conard when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
