Baseball Recap: Wahama's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Wahama dropped their record down to 7-9 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastern Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the White Falcons of the 11-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Eastern, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

For Eastern's part, Clayton Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. Moore has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eastern saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Abner, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Another was Lance Hensler, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Wahama and Eastern should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. The White Falcons (ranked 61st) will meet Meigs (ranked 409th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Eastern will take on Federal Hocking at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (163 vs. 683).
