Softball Recap: Ness City Comes Up Short

Ness City had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-6 to make it ten. They lost 18-1 to the Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Tuesday.

As for Sylvan-Lucas, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Sylvan-Lucas' part, Lily Pancost made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Pancost has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Josie Svaty was a standout: she got on base in three of her six plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Anna Feldkamp was another key player, getting on base in four of her seven plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs.

As of now, neither Ness City nor Sylvan-Lucas have any future games scheduled.
