Baseball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers vs. Broome Centurions

Blue Ridge has gone 8-1 against Broome recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Fighting Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Centurions at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Blue Ridge will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Seneca, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Fighting Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Bobcats on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Fighting Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Brady Smouse, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Corbin King also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Broome beat Mountain View Prep 9-4 on Friday.

Broome has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Blue Ridge, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Blue Ridge took their win against Broome in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Fighting Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Centurions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
