Basketball Game Preview: Elizabeth Forward Warriors vs. Southmoreland Scotties

The Elizabeth Forward Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Southmoreland Scotties at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Elizabeth Forward comes in on three and Southmoreland on nine.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Elizabeth Forward beat Derry 57-52. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Trojans are ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Southmoreland posted their biggest victory since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Brownsville 68-32.

Elizabeth Forward pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Southmoreland, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.

Everything went Elizabeth Forward's way against Southmoreland in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Elizabeth Forward made off with an 83-63 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elizabeth Forward since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
