Softball Recap: Independence Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hough, Independence was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the East Mecklenburg Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Emma Streletsky, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Alexis Agurs, who went 4-for-5 with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Independence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.

Independence's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for East Mecklenburg, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Independence will challenge Myers Park at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Mecklenburg, they will face off against Mallard Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
