Soccer Game Preview: Valley Center vs. Haysville Campus

The Valley Center Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Haysville Campus Colts on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Valley Center is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Maize, who was ranked 20th at the time (Valley Center was ranked 25th). The Hornets fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for Valley Center in their meetings with Maize: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Haysville Campus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Derby.

Haysville Campus' loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Valley Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Everything went Valley Center's way against Haysville Campus in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Valley Center made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
