Volleyball Recap: Elise Minnick's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Redwood over Porterville

If Redwood was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Monache last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rangers fell just short of the Porterville Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Rangers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Redwood ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 14 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 16-14.

Several Rangers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elise Minnick, who had 24 assists and eight digs.

The defeat snapped Redwood's winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 15-13 record. As for Porterville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Redwood will challenge rival Mt. Whitney at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Porterville is set to square off against their familiar foe Monache at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
