After breaking national record for consecutive victories, Red Knights meet No. 18 Etiwanda on Monday.

Checking in at No. 15 in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school girls basketball rankings, Incarnate Word Academy (St. Louis, Mo.) broke the national for consecutive victories Saturday with a 68-51 win over Blue Valley North (Overland Park, Kan.) at the Sophie Cunningham Classic.

That gave the Red Knights their 139th-straight win. They added to that total Sunday with a 78-59 win over Whitney Young (Chicago, Ill.).

Incarnate Word Academy head coach Dan Rolfes said the streak isn't always in forefront of his team's mind, but it is always present.

"I think our kids are use to playing with a lot of pressure, with state championship and tournament championship games," Rolfes said. "I think for this one, they felt pressure not just for our team but teams in the previous years. They didn't want to let the program down. They know this win was for every kid who has put on an Incarnate uniform."

Rolfes said he knows the streak will one day end.

"I'll look at the girls and say 'Let’s get 139 more.'" Rolfes said. "No one wants to lose, but there’s obviously huge lessons in every victory and every defeat. If it makes us better and helps us to our ultimate goal, winning a state title, then we have to learn from it."

Incarnate Word Academy puts it 140-game win streak on the line Monday against No. 18 Etiwanda (Calif.) in a MaxPreps Top 25 showdown at the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass. The Eagles are 12-4 on the season but all four losses are quality defeats during a grueling national slate of games.

In addition to Incarnate Word Academy and Etiwanda, No. 1 Ontario Christian (Ontario, Calif.), No. 2 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.), No. 3 Morris Catholic (Denville, N.J.) and No. 9 Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.) will be in action at Hoophall beginning Friday.
