Softball Recap: Delasalle Has No Trouble Against Richfield

DeLaSalle barely beat Richfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Islanders put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 16-6 victory on Thursday. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Islanders this season.

Nina Schultz and Carlie Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Schultz went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Jackson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those six RBI gave Schultz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elina Ditty, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

The win (which was DeLaSalle's third in a row) raised their record to 6-4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Richfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DeLaSalle will challenge Orono at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Richfield, they will welcome Wayzata at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
