Epiphany is 0-4 against New Bern Christian Academy since March of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Falcons will be playing at home against New Bern Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m.
Epiphany is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Liberty Christian Academy.
Epiphany saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paxton Phelps, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That RBI was Phelps' first of the season.
Meanwhile, New Bern Christian Academy got themselves on the board against Jacksonville Christian Academy on Thursday, but Jacksonville Christian Academy never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over the Conquerors. Considering New Bern Christian Academy has won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ayden Hague and Brittain Register made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hague tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Register tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Hague went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Register went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Peyton Mills and Aiden Britt did most of the damage at the plate: Mills went a perfect 4-for-4 with eight stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI, while Britt got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Britt has posted since back in April of 2024. Tyler Willis was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Epiphany's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for New Bern Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Epiphany suffered a grim 31-4 defeat to New Bern Christian Academy when the teams last played on April 7th. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
