Seton Catholic put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the La Center Wildcats a 13-0 shutout. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.
Jocelyn Kender made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brooklynn Lubisich and Kylie McMaster did most of the damage at the plate: Lubisich scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances, while McMaster scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Lubisich is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie Travalia, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Seton Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Center only posted an OBP of .350.
Seton Catholic pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for La Center, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
