Softball Recap: Blair Takes Down Ranked Ralston

Blair faced Ralston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bears walked away with a 4-0 win over the Rams. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.

Taytum Macholan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Blair let Laynie Brown and Taylor Munger run wild. Brown went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles, while Munger went 1-for-3 with one home run. Those two doubles gave Brown a new career-high. Mia McClain was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Blair's record is now 14-4. As for Ralston, their defeat ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3.

Blair has already played their next matchup, a 12-2 win against Gretna East on the 13th. As for Ralston, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-0 victory against Gross Catholic on the 11th.
