Football Game Preview: Palmer Tigers vs. Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades

The Palmer Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmer has given up an average of 49 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Palmer is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Twin Loup on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Tigers were outmatched by the Wolves and fell 61-14. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-8.

Meanwhile, Chambers/Wheeler Central started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Anselmo-Merna. They had to suffer through a 64-16 loss at the hands of the Coyotes. While losing is never fun, the Renegades can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Coyotes are ranked 14th).

Palmer's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-3. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-3.

Palmer was able to grind out a solid victory over Chambers/Wheeler Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 36-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
