Baseball Recap: Chaminade Takes a Loss

Chaminade came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost three in a row.

Chaminade got a good showing from Adam Batmanian, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Batmanian has allowed since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Chaminade saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Costa, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Chaminade's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Harvard-Westlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Chaminade will square off against Loyola at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Loyola's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Chaminade's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Harvard-Westlake, they will take on St. Francis at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harvard-Westlake is facing St. Francis at the right time seeing as St. Francis is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
