Baseball Recap: Fountain Valley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Los Alamitos

There's no place like home for Fountain Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Los Alamitos Griffins by a score of 4-1 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Barons: when they faced off against the Griffins on Wednesday, they had to take a 7-4 defeat.

Tyler Peshke was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fountain Valley is 7-2 when Peshke allows one or fewer hits, but 8-9 otherwise. Peshke was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Fountain Valley got a great performance from Nathan Martinez as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Martinez has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

Peshke wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josh Grack, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Fountain Valley's record now sits at 15-11. As for Los Alamitos, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-9-2 record this season.

Fountain Valley is taking a road trip to square off against Huntington Beach at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Oilers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Barons surely won't give up without a fight. Los Alamitos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
