Baseball Recap: Stagg Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Stagg was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Weston Ranch Cougars by a score of 10-5. This was a revenge game for the Delta Kings: when they faced off against the Cougars last Wednesday, they had to take a 12-1 loss.

Sebastian Ramirez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Ramirez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Stagg let Michael Hutchinson and Jackson Brooks run wild. Hutchinson went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Brooks scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave Hutchinson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Morones, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Stagg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Weston Ranch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Stagg will challenge Bear Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Weston Ranch, they will square off against Tokay at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
