Basketball Game Preview: Holy Cross Crusaders vs. Lancaster Mennonite Blazers

The Holy Cross Crusaders will take on the Lancaster Mennonite Blazers at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Holy Cross is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They skirted past Audenried 58-55. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Rockets are ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lancaster Mennonite posted their closest victory since January 27, 2024 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Catasauqua, sneaking past 51-49. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blazers.

Holy Cross has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. Lancaster Mennonite's win bumped their record up to 23-4.

Holy Cross came up short against Lancaster Mennonite in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, falling 51-40. Can Holy Cross avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
