Baseball Game Preview: Blue Valley Tigers vs. Har-Ber Wildcats

Blue Valley hasn't had much luck against Har-Ber recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Blue Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Blue Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Shawnee Heights, who was ranked 24th at the time (Blue Valley was ranked tenth). The Tigers blew past the Thunderbirds 9-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Tigers have won four games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Har-Ber gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Greenwood 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

MAX STEWART looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Har-Ber let DAVIS DYER and REESE CAVITT run wild. DYER went 1-for-3 with one home run, while CAVITT went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of AIDEN EVANS, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Blue Valley pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Har-Ber, their record is now 22-6.

Blue Valley came up short against Har-Ber when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
