Basketball Recap: Adams Central Falls Despite Big Games from Kate Fisher and Ava Stafford

Adams Central lost against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Adams Central Flying Jets lost 60-34 to the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights. The Flying Jets were down 48-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Adams Central's loss came despite strong showings from Ava Stafford and Kate Fisher. Stafford posted 13 points and three steals, while Fisher put up eight points and five rebounds. Stafford has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Leading Fort Wayne Bishop Luers to victory were Karianne Gilman and Reese Rhodehamel. Gilman earned ten points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Rhodehamel went 7 of 17 on her way to 17 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Gilman a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiya Tyree, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 11 points.

Adams Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Adams Central will square off against Heritage at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Adams Central is facing Heritage at the right time seeing as Heritage is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they will face off against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
