Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Takes a Loss

Holy Cross was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the John Paul II Guardians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Guardians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-32 back in January.

Allie Wood had a dynamite game for John Paul II, putting up 15 points along with six rebounds and six steals. That's the most steals Wood has posted since back in November of 2024. Sofia Figueroa was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 steals.

Holy Cross' defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for John Paul II, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-16.

Holy Cross wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-35 loss against John Paul II on the 7th. As for John Paul II, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-34 defeat against Incarnate Word Academy on the 7th.
