Basketball Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

Lakewood suffered their biggest defeat since February 23, 2024 on Thursday. They were beaten by the Fairfield Union Falcons 61-27. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while the Falcons are ranked 25th).

Lakewood is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14. As for Fairfield Union, they pushed their record up to 16-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakewood will challenge Newark Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fairfield Union, they will square off against Hamilton Township at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
