Basketball Recap: Hernando Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Hernando extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 5-11. They took down the Springstead Eagles 68-49. The Leopards pushed the score to 61-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hernando to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blake Williams, who posted 16 points and seven boards. Michael Brown was another key player, shooting 45% from the field on his way to 14 points and three steals.

As for Springstead, their defeat was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-16. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since January 30, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Springstead's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Orlando Feliberty, who put up nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Cordero, who scored seven points and five boards.

Looking ahead, Hernando will host Citrus at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Leopards will be up against the Hurricanes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 71.76 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Springstead, they will venture away from home to square off against Lecanto at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
