Lyons had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 25-6 victory over the Lake Park Lancers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Lancers are ranked 173rd).

Lyons' win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Lake Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lyons is set to face off against their familiar foe Naperville Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Lions 4.1, the Redhawks 8.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Lake Park will challenge rival St. Edward at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
