Baseball Recap: Archbishop Mitty Comes Up Short

Archbishop Mitty and Wilcox squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Archbishop Mitty had to settle for second. They came up short against the Chargers, falling 12-3. The Monarchs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Archbishop Mitty got a good showing from Gabe Lopez, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Lopez a new career-low.

At the plate, Archbishop Mitty saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Mak, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Archbishop Mitty has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-16 record this season. As for Wilcox, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-8.

As of now, neither Archbishop Mitty nor the Chargers have any future games scheduled.
