The Marionville Comets put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Greenfield for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-19 victory at home. Marionville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight games by 37 points or more this season.
Marionville found their leader in underclassman Lanie Stokes, who scored 24 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. The matchup was Stokes' third in a row with at least ten points. Maggie Murphy was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists and six steals.
Marionville pushed their record up to 9-0 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Greenfield, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marionville will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Crane at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
