Basketball Recap: Shenandoah Valley Comes Up Short

After soaring to 56 points the game before, Shenandoah Valley was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They fell 35-26 to the North Schuylkill Spartans. The contest marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Among those leading the charge was Jude Maziekas, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 15 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Marcinowski, who posted five points in addition to seven boards and seven steals.

Shenandoah Valley dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for North Schuylkill, they moved to 1-7 with that victory, which also ended their nine-game losing streak.

Shenandoah Valley and North Schuylkill could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Shenandoah Valley (ranked 357th) will meet Mahanoy Area (ranked sixth) at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th. Similarly, North Schuylkill (ranked 454th) will meet Minersville (ranked 112th) at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
