Basketball Recap: Gavan Steinberg's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Meyersdale over Southern Fulton

Meyersdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The contest between them and the Southern Fulton Indians didn't end well, with the Meyersdale Red Raiders falling 60-43. If the Red Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 52-33 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Red Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavan Steinberg, who posted 11 points. What's more, Steinberg also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryan Sechler, who had 11 points.

Gaven Mellott was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 24 points and nine steals for Southern Fulton. Mellott is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trentin Cain, who went 7 for 13 en route to 18 points.

Meyersdale's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Southern Fulton, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-7.

Meyersdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-16 defeat against Windber on the 17th. Southern Fulton has also already played their next game, a 54-49 loss against Berkeley Springs on the 14th.
