Volleyball Recap: Maloney Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Galo Cadena and Sixto Munoz

If Maloney was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Farmington on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans fell just short of the Conard Red Wolves by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Spartans have struggled against the Red Wolves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Maloney sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 29-31, 15-13.

Maloney's loss came despite strong showings from Sixto Munoz and Galo Cadena. Munoz had ten digs, while Cadena had 17 digs and three aces. Cadena is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 21 every time he's taken the court this season. Abdiel Cividanes also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Maloney fell to 15-1. As for Conard, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
