It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Moreno Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Citrus Hill Hawks. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won three in a row.
Moreno Valley let Mia Licon and Yahaira Esquivel run wild. Licon went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Esquivel went 4-for-6 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Esquivel has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lia Sandoval, who went 3-for-6 with two RBI and one double.
Moreno Valley now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Citrus Hill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
