Blackfoot is 7-1 against Bonneville since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Broncos will venture away from home to take on the Bees at 7:00 p.m. Blackfoot is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 28.5 points per game this season.
Blackfoot is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Madison, who was ranked 12th at the time (Blackfoot was ranked 24th). The Broncos fell 32-24 to the Bobcats on Friday. The Broncos have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, Blackfoot saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Austin Arave, who threw for 150 yards and a pair of TDs, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bonneville). They blew past Idaho Falls 47-13 on Friday. The Bees have beaten the Tigers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.
Bonneville's win came from a few key players Blackfoot will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aden Mora, who rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 129.8 rushing yards per game. Another rusher making a difference was Cooper Stephenson, who rushed for 150 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Bonneville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 439 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Blackfoot's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Bonneville, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Blackfoot has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 161.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bonneville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 213 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Blackfoot didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Bonneville when the teams last played back in September of 2024, but they still walked away with a 16-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
